Whether it is being named a “Super Lawyer” or earning an AV peer rating by Martindale Hubbell, Barry’s achievements are guided by his decisive values. Hardworking and efficient, Barry knows that meeting his clients’ objectives takes more than a stellar reputation and firm handshake.
His clients say he makes them feel supported, cared for, and secure. Barry knows that everything he does and every decision he makes affects his clients’ families, so he constantly looks for creative ways to set an example of consideration and responsibility.
As a highly sought-after mediator, his warmth and social intelligence set the stage for getting done what needs to get done. Teamwork is a concept Barry naturally puts into practice—uniting people and smoothing relations in a way that improves outcomes for families along the way.
Well organized and dependable, Barry enjoys bringing order and structure to his clients’ lives during a time of instability and uncertainty. Doing something of value for another person is the driving force behind Barry’s practice style and is what brings together unmatched practical knowledge and legal skill when clients need it most.
Since his admission to the Bar in 1989, Barry has gained experience in criminal, civil, real estate, and probate law, which enhanced and informed his focus on family law for over 20 years. In addition to his major contributions to family law organizations such as the Leander J. Foley Jr. Matrimonial Chapter of the American Inns of Court and Society of Family Lawyers, he has also advanced several civic organizations as a board member of the Salvation Army, board member of Crime Stoppers, and volunteer at the Milwaukee Rescue Mission.
Outside of work, Barry enjoys family time with his wife, Dr. Diane Book, a Neurologist at Froedtert & the Medical College of Wisconsin, and his adult children, Grace end Ben. He also enjoys cycling, running and golf.
